he Zurich Sing-Akademie and the renowned Freiburg Baroque Orchestra bring Mozart's legendary opus magnum to the Tonhalle Zurich. Perhaps the most famous work of classical music, it still arouses deep emotions in listeners today. Its delicate tones and fiery outbursts, however, inspire by no means only lovers of classical music.
The source-critical edition by Michael Ostrzyga was published by Bärenreiter Verlag in 2022. In completing the fragment, Ostrzyga draws on extensive comparative-analytical studies of Mozart's church style and his compositional technique. Based on Süssmayr's and Eybler's historical additions, the influence of Handel and Bach, which manifested itself in Mozart's later years, especially in the fragment of the Requiem, is also taken into account in the supplementary and appended parts. The version has already proved its worth in numerous performances.
